Title: Combinatorial Nullstellensatz
SpeakerDr. Subrahmanyam Kalyanasundaram
Room No: A-317
Time: 11:00  - 12:00
Abstract:
The Combinatorial Nullstellensatz was a landmark result by Alon (1999), who observed the underlying theme behind several existing results in combinatorics. Combinatorial Nullstellensatz can  be viewed as a generalization of the simple fact that a degree d polynomial cannot have more than d roots. This is a versatile algebraic technique that has helped prove various results in diverse areas  such as graph theory, additive number theory and geometry. In this talk, we will see the  Nullstellensatz and several interesting applications.

This talk will be self-contained. No prior knowledge will be required apart from some basic algebra.
